Five weeks ago, I started this Perfect Fit Reflections series when I stepped into the studio’s new treatment rooms hoping to soothe a cranky lower back, shake up my routine, and see whether red light therapy and infrared heat lived up to the buzz. Fast-forward to today: the back ache is gone, I’m noticeably looser, a stubborn skin issue has calmed, and I’ve added two powerful wellness tools to my weekly line-up. Here’s how Week Five unfolded—and a few parting thoughts.

This Week’s Reflection

(Get caught up on my previous reflections: Week One | Week Two | Week Three | Week Four)

Tuesday: 7 a.m. Personal Training

As I knock out three sets of six band-assisted pull-ups it occurs to me that I’m approaching three years of weekly personal training sessions with Tricia. When I started in 2022, one pull-up was out of reach; now the progress is so satisfying I am happy to tackle them. Deciding to enroll in personal training at the same time I started a new job was one of the best commitments to ME that I have ever made. The hour flies by and at 8 a.m., every muscle is happily shaky, sweat is dripping, and I have a satisfying sense of accomplishment.

Wednesday: 5 p.m. Infrared Sauna (30 min) → 6 p.m. Barre

Surprisingly, Tuesday’s hard session didn’t leave me sore, so I went into the sauna just focused on relaxing and loosening up for Barre. This is my second time doing sauna before Barre so I’m filled with anticipation of feeling my best in class – last time I did the sauna first it was a game-changer.

Perfect Fit Infrared Sauna blue chromotherapyI set the chromotherapy to blue (great for calming joints), and queued up a podcast. During the last half of the 30-minute session I focused on gentle stretching—standing  forward folds and seated figure-fours. Cabin temp peaked at 140 °F, which had me dabbing sweat and cracking the door a couple of times to keep it comfortable.

Starting Barre already warm is surprisingly energizing: the opening ab series feels smoother, and my hips opened more easily during straddle stretches. Bryanna’s new May playlist ended with an epic glute-bridge track that truly burned—I don’t think the sauna did much to help me endure those last few minutes, ouch! I left class loose, calm, and in a great headspace rest of the evening.

I’ll be back at Perfect Fit on Saturday morning at 8 a.m. for my second strength and conditioning class in a row. It’s a great way to start the weekend with a friendly group.

Overall Reflection on Perfect Fit Health Services

When I began, I was full of optimism about red-light therapy and infrared heat but maintained a healthy dose of skepticism. Nagging lower back discomfort and general tightness were my only physical complaints alongside the typical stress and a busy parent. After five weeks deliberately adding RLT and infrared sauna to my routine, here’s where I stand and what I’d share:

Five Takeaways & Recommendations

  1. Relief shows up quickly. One focused session in the sauna or RLT room can melt a nagging ache faster than you’d think.
  2. Twenty minutes is magic. Twenty quiet minutes between the light panels reset mood and energy like nothing else in my day.
  3. Mix, match, repeat. Sauna before Barre boosts flexibility; RLT after strength work mitigates soreness, sauna after strength is bliss. Experiment and discover the best result for you.
  4. Distance matters. Standing about six inches from the RLT panel cleared stubborn bumps on my skin—perfect timing for Maine’s short beach season.
  5. Treat yourself—just because. Sometimes the biggest benefit is simply carving out time that’s 100 percent yours

After five weeks, I’m pain-free, noticeably more limber, and hooked on the mood lift each session provides.
