Infrared Sauna and Barre Combo for the Win
Week Three of my Perfect Fit Health Services journey started on a high note, even though a weekend session of hauling patio furniture tweaked my lower back for a moment. My goal: flip last week’s order—red light therapy after personal training and the infrared sauna before Barre—to see which combo gives the best blend of energy, recovery, and flexibility.
Tuesday: Personal Training (7 a.m.) + Red Light Therapy (20 min)
Before
I set my alarm incorrectly and overslept, so no time for my usual ½ banana-with-peanut-butter. I worried my fuel tank would run dry.
Training Highlights
- Warm-up kicks felt looser than they have in weeks—that was unexpected progress, since I still have the same hip/IT-band tightness.
- Band-assisted pull-ups plus a fierce TRX push-up-to-pike series took everything I had to get through (in the best way).
- The hour vanished, and it was straight into the RLT room.
RLT Session
Stood between the two light panels, no goggles, gentle stretching while the warmth washed over me. Was glad I packed my bag the night before and brought dry clothes—small win for post-session comfort even with my botched alarm.
After
Walked out feeling both relaxed and charged up. A quick refuel of scrambled eggs back home, then three long meetings where my focus never dipped—a pleasant surprise given the missed pre-workout fuel. A night out enjoying a healthy dinner prepared by a friend capped a great day.
Wednesday: Infrared Sauna (35 min) + Barre (6 p.m.)
Before
Only a hint of soreness from Tuesday’s workout when I woke up. Feeling great overall!
Sauna Time
- Booked an hour early to take the sauna first; temp hit about 130°F.
- Added standing forward folds and seated butterfly stretches to get extra limber for Barre.
- Quick cool-down—cool damp towel on face, arms, and legs—so I kept some of that warmth for class.
Barre Class
Arrived early, stretched, chatted with Bryanna, and was thrilled my ballet-dancer daughter Helen could join (school vacation perk). From the first floor sequence, I could tell pre-sauna heat was a difference-maker: deeper stretches, steadier energy, and far more comfort than last week when RLT came first.

After
By Thursday my quads were talking—a good, “I-earned-this” soreness that probably came from the one-two punch of strength training plus Barre.
Week-Three Reflections
- Back twinge: faded quickly—yard work hasn’t derailed momentum.
- Sauna before Barre: huge boost to flexibility and endurance. I’ll be repeating that.
- RLT always feels great: a fantastic way to leave the studio calm yet alert post training.
- Big picture takeaway: the schedule flip confirmed heat primes me for mobility, while light smooths out post-workout fatigue.
What’s Next
A busy calendar means no Barre or PiYO next week, so I’ll shuffle the mix again and let you know how it goes. Talk soon!
